About Us
The Customs Brokerage Manager oversees all customs brokerage operations, ensuring the company remains compliant with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agencies. This role is responsible for managing a team of licensed customs brokers and entry writers, maintaining customer satisfaction, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of import shipments.
Supervise and manage daily operations of the customs brokerage team, ensuring timely and compliant release of goods.
Serve as the main point of contact for CBP and other regulatory agencies regarding audits, inquiries, and compliance matters.
Ensure all import documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) is complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable regulations.
Maintain company compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), and internal standards.
Oversee classification of goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), valuation, and country of origin marking.
Maintain records and documentation according to CBP’s recordkeeping requirements (19 CFR Part 163).
Train, coach, and mentor customs brokerage staff on regulatory changes and best practices.
Collaborate with clients, carriers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
Monitor and implement updates to internal SOPs to reflect changes in regulations or operational improvements.
Identify risk areas and lead initiatives to mitigate non-compliance.
Monitor KPIs to ensure productivity, compliance, and customer service goals are achieved.
Licensed Customs Broker certification (required).
5+ years of experience in customs brokerage, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong understanding of import regulations, HTS classification, valuation, and entry processes.
Working knowledge of Partner Government Agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA).
Proficiency with customs brokerage software (e.g., Descartes, CargoWise, BluJay, etc.).
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
